Abe Weissman is a character in the Amazon Prime show, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. He is Miriam's father, the maternal grandfather of Ethan and Esther Maisel, the husband of Rose, and the ex-father-in-law of Joel.
He is portrayed by Tony Shalhoub.
Character History[]
Abe is Noah Weissman and Midge Maisel's father and was a tenure professor for Columbia. He was also recruited by Bell Labs, once his dream job, but quit when he found out how phony the program was. He has been married to Rose Weissman for thirty-odd years.
Personality[]
Abe can be a rather scrutinizing man. He tends to judge everything upon first sight; a characteristic that lends in the comicality of the character. He appears to be rather protective of his daughter Midge, especially when she goes out on her comedy gigs—sometimes staying up all night to wait for her to return.
Throughout Midge's entire marriage to Joel Maisel, Abe harbored a seemingly unfavorable view on Joel, though keeping it secret. He refers to their marriage and (and subsequent divorce) as "The Joel Fiasco."
Abe seems to have somewhat of a strict and no-nonsense demeanor but he cares deeply about his family.

Abe is a middle-aged man with short dark brown hair and a mustache. He wears a tweed suit at his job but otherwise wears a sweater and vest outside of work.

- Out of his two children, Abe likes his son, Noah Weissman best.
- Whilst living in the Upper West Side with Rose, they lived at apartment 12C, 385 Riverside Drive (his daughter, Midge Maisel lived several floors below them).
- From Rumble on the Wonder Wheel, they move into Midge's re-bought apartment at apartment 9C, 385 Riverside Drive.
