Marin Hinkle is an American actress and plays Rose Weissman in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Career[]

In her youth, Hinkle pursued her dream of being a professional ballerina. However, an ankle injury at the age of 16 stopped these plans from becoming reality.[1]

So, after she graduated from Brown University, she turned to a career in acting and started taking acting and theater classes at NYU (New York University), though she claims to have been rather bad in lessons.[1]

Her actual acting career began to accelerate in the 90's. Hinkle first succeeded in theater plays presented in Washington DC and on Broadway, portraying "Juliet" in Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in 1994 and "Miranda" in The Tempest in 1995. Hinkle started her TV-career in that year as well, as she became part of the cast of the soap opera's Another World.[2]

Marin Hinkle is best known for her role of "Judith Harper-Melnick" on CBS sitcom Two and a Half Men and that of "Judy Brooks" in Once and Again which was broadcasted on ABC from 1999 to 2002. She also took part in both of the "Jumanji" films.[2]

Personal Life[]

Marin Hinkle was born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, to her mother Margaret R. (Polga) Hinkle, a judge, and to her father Rodney Hinke, a college teacher. Her parents met while serving in the Peace Corps.

However, she did not live long in Tanzania, as her parents moved to Boston when she was four months old. This is also where her younger brother Mark Hinkel was born.

In 1992, she met her later husband Randall Sommer, with whom she has a child. They are married since 1998.[1][2]
