In Ya Shivu v Bolshom Dome Na Kholme, Midge is seen walking by, after she just bailed out Lenny from jail. She stops and looks in and whilst standing there, a flashback of Midge and Joel having their wedding breakfast, discussing the day gone by and where they're going to live as husband and wife. Their conversation ends though, when Midge goes to the bathroom and tells Joel to join her, where they end up having sex. The flashback then ends, and Midge is seen, in the present day, sitting down at the same table as in the flashback but alone this time.

A day later, in Because You Left, Lenny returns the favor and bails out Midge from jail, after she gets arrested for the second time. They head to The City Spoon together, where Susie is sitting at a window table. Midge heads on over to sit with Susie, whilst Lenny walks to the cigarette dispenser on the other side of the premises. Midge tells Susie that she thought she had bailed her out, whilst Susie tells Midge, that Rose Weissman, who she talked to on the phone, intimidated her.
It's at this point, that Lenny is spotted by Susie (she's unaware that Midge and Lenny arrived together). Susie's taken aback when Midge tells her that they bailed each other out from jail but she becomes even more flustered, when Lenny walks on over to their table and sits by her. She offers him a cigarette, as the machine ate his money. They chat, with Lenny making a small joke about Midge's letter to go to court, which is when he decided to leave but not before inviting both Midge and Susie to his gig the next night.

In a flashback in All Alone, Midge and Joel are on a date, albeit a late one, as they were out past midnight, which broke one of Midge's college dorm rules. Joel jokes that he thought her curfew was 1am, before standing up and sliding an engagement ring box towards Midge, who was sitting at the counter. She draws it out, telling him that she'll think about it, even though she said that she knew it was going to happen, which she seemed happy about.
Not having an answer, Joel tells her that if she didn't say yes then, he was going to walk out into the middle of the street and wait for a bus to run him over. Still, she doesn't say yes, so he walks outside and does just as he said he would. Amused by this, Midge walks outside and towards Joel but he stops her, asking her to say yes. She still doesn't, so he continues to hold up the fraught traffic. Eventually, with Joel surprising her with playing a song from her favorite show on speakers, she says yes so, after demanding Midge to put on the ring, runs up to Joel and kisses him before they dance in the middle of the street.
